Chichester Netball Club are beyond proud to be writing this post.

Every year, England Netball host awards to celebrate the netball going on around the country, these awards are called The One Awards. Every Region invites people to nominate anyone who stands out and makes a contribution to netball under 9 categories. We were thrilled to hear that CNC and our Head Coach, Claire Cobden, were nominated for 3 in the Netball South region!

  1. Community Club of the Year
  2. Coach of the Year (Children and Young People)
  3. Coach of the Year (Adults)

On Friday 31st May, Netball South announced the nominees and winners for the 9 categories and we cannot believe we are writing this….but CNC won 2!!

Community Club of the Year – Chichester Netball Club!

We were up against some outstanding, big clubs within the South so to be nominated was amazing. But to then see our name come up as the winner… Chichester Netball Club has grown and grown and our aim is to keep growing.

Coach of the Year (Children and Young People) – Claire Cobden

Claire has been teaching PE and coaching since 2010 within many schools, but her passion for netball led her to start CNC back in 2017. Since then, she has coached nearly 750 members and does not plan to stop anytime soon. Her focus is FUN, whilst developing skills and potentials for every member. There is NO trials to get into the club, so all abilities and ages are welcomed. What an achievement against some outstanding coaches in the area.

The winners have been invited to an Afternoon Tea to celebrate, and are all now nominated for the National Finals and Awards in September!! We wish Claire and CNC lots of luck, but for now we are THRILLED with the awards and will celebrate for a long time.

CNC Sparkle at Magic U13 Glitter Tournament

CNC Sparkle at Magic U13 Glitter Tournament
22 May

On Sunday 19th May, our U13 regional squad travelled to Brighton to compete in the Magic NC Glitter Tournament. The level of clubs in attendance was extremely high and we wanted to see how we could compare.

As the theme suggests, before any netball was played, our girls pulled out all the stops to cover themselves in glitter, ribbons and paint! Then it was time to play some netball….

Match 1 vs Poole NC: Lost 6-8

Match 2 vs Turnford: Won 13-7

Match 3 vs Clan: Won 14-5

Match 4 vs Ravers: Won 9-4

Match 5 vs Fusion Vipers: Won 8-5

Match 6 vs MK Netters: Lost 6-10

Match 7 vs Magic: Lost 5-15

The girls came away with 4th place which is incredible considering the level of netball on display by all teams. Our 10 girls did the club proud and played some insane netball.

Well done girls, what a way to end the incredible 23/24 season!

County Teams on Fire!

County Teams on Fire!
01 Feb

Our U12 and U14 County teams have had some great matches so far this season and are showing their amazing talent across the county.

Our U12s started strong, beating Magic and CD Phoenix, with a draw against Boost also. So much depth and talent in this squad. Their next game is Sunday 4th February vs Stars NC.

Our U14s joined the league later so have played their matches in a shorter amount of time. This has not been an issue, they are a very talented and energetic group who are performing well. They won their first two games against Stars NC and Mid Sussex NC and have their next game on Sunday 4th February vs 5 Ways.

Well done girls, it is amazing seeing you all play at county level and at such a high standard.

CNC Charity Tournament a Huge Success!

CNC Charity Tournament a Huge Success!
01 Feb

On Sunday 28th January, CNC hosted 15 teams from across the South in our annual Charity Versatility Tournament. The charity we are supporting is Chestnut Tree House, an Children’s Hospice that offer incredible support and help for children and young people with terminal or life-threatening illnesses in Sussex.

There were 15 teams who played in 2 groups. The winning 2 from each went into the Cup, 3rd and 4th into the Plate, 5th and 6th into the Shield and 7th and 8th into the Bowl.

There was some amazing netball on display, but with versatility, there was also lots of fun and smiles. Well done to the 4 winning teams:

Cup – Midas 1

Plate – CNC Blue

Shield – Wrens

Bowl – Ravens

A fantastic event which has raised over £950 for Chestnut Tree House.

CNC are also taking part in The Big Hoot 2024, where in aid of Chestnut Tree House, we have sponsored an owl which we will decorate and this will be on display in Summer 2024 in Chichester and Arundel. We cannot wait to start decorating.

Same time next year? Cannot wait….
